U18

The U18 program continues to refine overall skiing, racing, and performance on demand skills.

This age group will participate in 4 races in the Southern Ontario Division. A typical race day is 6 hours long and generally ends around 2:00pm. On race weekends, U18 athletes will have training on the opposite day of the race.

Skiers entering the U18 program must be one of the following:

• Be an exceptional dynamic parallel skier that is confident on a variety of terrain and snow conditions, and comfortable skiing with speed
• Have successfully completed Advanced-2 (A2) in the Chicopee Snow School programs
• Graduates of the U16 program

Per Alpine Ontario regulations, program participants must be a Chicopee Member for the applicable race season and are required to wear a hard eared helmet with an FIS label affixed at the back.

Equipment strongly recommended for racers includes slalom and giant slalom event specific skis, back protectors for speed races, and slalom gear for clearing gates.

U18 SCUP athletes are required to register through AOA.

• Dryland Training: (Sundays) Sep 29 to Nov 24, 2024 from 10:00am to 12:00pm (There will be no Dryland on Sunday Oct 13 - Thanksgiving weekend)
• New to Chicopee Race Parent Meeting: Oct 6, 2024 (Register with Guest Services)
• Returning Race Parent Meeting: Oct 20, 2024 (Register with Guest Services)
• Friday Night Gates: Jan 10 to Mar 7, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm
• Race Events: 4 Scheduled Races, dates TBA
  Note: If race dates overlap with Saturday Trainings, the training will take place on Sunday.
• CARV Ski-a-thon: Feb 28, 2025
• Club Championships: Mar 1, 2025
• Race Social: Tuesday Mar 18, 2025

Optional (additional costs):

• Blue Mountain Mondays: Jan 13, Jan 20, Jan 27, Feb 3, Feb 10, Feb 24 from 9:00am to 3:00pm (Lift ticket not included in fee)
• Chicopee Slalom Camp: Dec 27 & 28, 2024 from 9:00am to 1:00pm
• Invitational Race Events: TBA
